THE TESTING OF ENTREPRENEUR INTENTION MODEL OF SMK STUDENTS IN SPECIAL REGION OF YOGYAKARTA: METHOD

The object in this research was Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan that was located in Special Region with the subjects SMK students grade XII. The research that was done was qualitative and did hypothesis testing. The research was survey. The research population that was used as sample source was SMK students in Special Region of Yogyakarta. The research technique used non probability method with purposive sampling technique, and some SMKs that had potential in supporting entrepreneurship program were chosen. The election of research object criteria had the consideration to emphasize innovation more, that was the ability to do changes in accordance with the market demand. SMK students that became research sample were the students of grade XII who were assumed as the decision makers after graduating from SMK. The number of the sample was determined according to the assumption of multivariate testing, and model that was 25x free variable, so each sample of each SMK was determined proportionally.
Kind of data collected were primary data that would be obtained by spreading questionnaire and closed interview. In doing survey, researcher used personally administered questionnaires by spreading the questionnaire that was given and collected directly from data source that were SMK students. Questionnaire question items referred much to the previous questionnaire principal that was repaired before and after testing. The variable measurement in this research referred to the interval scale with choice variation interval, from the choice of very disagree until very agree. The operational definition that related with the meaning of all latent variables that were used in this field research was clarified and explained as follows.
Entrepreneurship intention was the individual desire tendency to do entrepreneurship action by creating new products through business opportunity and risk taking. Entrepreneurship intention was measured by entrepreneurial intention scale with the indicator choosing business track rather than working under others, choosing career as entrepreneurs, and choosing career as employees (reverse).
Entrepreneurship attitude was the feeling or general evaluation about entrepreneurship based on conviction and entrepreneurship evaluation or a business. Entrepreneurship attitude was measured by entrepreneurship attitude scale with the indicator starting business was an interesting thing, entrepreneurship view compared with the other jobs, and the success in entrepreneurship.
Subjective norm was the individual conviction to obey the direction or suggestion from the surrounding people to follow the entrepreneurship activities. Subjective norm was measured by subjective norm scale (Ramayah & Harun, 2005) with the indicator family role conviction in starting business, support conviction in business from parents, support conviction from friends in business. Self efficacy was individual perception about the ability to form entrepreneurship behavior. Self efficacy was measured by self efficacy scale with the indicator selfconfident about the ability to start business, the leadership of human source and the ability to build business/network. itat on
Risk tolerance (the tendency to take risk) was defined as individual tendency to take or avoid risk. The measurement of tendency to take risk used scale that was adapted from Gaddam with three statement items; those were entrepreneurship risk, risk to open business, and risk was a challenge.
Data analysis method in this research used structural equality model. Data analysis used statistical program AMOS to compute indicator data score (item), and all research latent variable, would be compared with cut off value).
