THE TESTING OF ENTREPRENEUR INTENTION MODEL OF SMK STUDENTS IN SPECIAL REGION OF YOGYAKARTA: LITERATUREThere were several obstacles basically that inhibited individuals to become entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship demanded courage to take risk and courage to face obstacles as consequence for the things done and if fail, individuals did not look for reasons from obstacles or constraints met (Wijaya, 2007). Hofstede identified four prominent characteristics in Asia culture included Indonesia, one of them was uncertainty avoidance. The culture of uncertainty avoidance caused people did not want to take risk, even if one of the main characteristics of entrepreneurship was the courage to take risk. Individuals that had tendency to take risk had intention to be entrepreneurs higher compared with individuals who avoided risk. Some research showed the role from the factors that influenced entrepreneurship intention, those were the tendency to take risk, entrepreneurship attitude, subjective norm, and self efficacy in explaining entrepreneurship intention.
Research about entrepreneurship behavior became the interesting thing for researchers in various countries in Asia and European. The research about entrepreneurship behavior improved from the combination of various perspectives, those were economy, psychology, and sociology. Entrepreneurship behavior regarded from sociology perspective explained the relationship between humans, the society life pattern, and norm and culture of forming a group that formed entrepreneurship behavior. Psychology perspective discussed entrepreneurship behavior regarded from psychological factors, those were personal aspect and entrepreneurship motive. Some research indicated the existence of the role from the tendency to take risk, locus of control, need for achievement, entrepreneurship attitude, self efficacy, instrumental readiness, subjective norm, and entrepreneurship intention in explaining entrepreneurship behavior. comments
Theoretically, the previous research result and model gave conclusion that may be not suitable with the condition and situation in Indonesia nowadays. That problem encouraged the writer more to watch entrepreneurship intention model. The consideration of variable choice among others was to pay attention the empirical needs in business world more, commonly in Indonesia, besides the theoretical model that had existed. The problem of entrepreneurship intention became the main focus in this research. Practically the lowness of entrepreneurship intention in Indonesia and the importance of entrepreneurship orientation in Indonesia, especially at SMK level were the problems that needed to be solved through research. Theoretically, the problem based on theoretical model arrangement that involved the variable component of the tendency to take risk, entrepreneurship attitude, subjective norm, self efficacy, and entrepreneurship intention still indicated the existence of research gap. The research discussing entrepreneurship intention of SMK students in Indonesia, especially Special Region of Yogyakarta and its factors, comprehensively had been discussed little relatively.
